‘Kagawad’, 6 others nabbed for drugs, guns

CAGAYAN Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Ariel N. Quilang yesterday announced the arrest of a barangay ‘kagawad’ from Solana municipality and seven others over drugs and illegal weapons’ charges following a series of anti-criminality operations in the province.

In a report to Police Regional Office 2 director, Brigadier General Crizaldo O. Nieves, the official identified the arrested elected public official as Randy Blancad,’ a 35-year old ‘kagawad’ of Bgy. Andarayana in Solana who has been tagged as a Regional Top High-Value Individual for his involvement in illegal drug trafficking.

Quilang said that the suspect was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Alimannao in Peñablanca municipality..

Recovered from the possession of the suspect were two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and two marked P500 bills paid to him by an undercover officer.

Another identified as Rowell Saquing, 35, a farmer from Purok 1 in Bgy. Andarayan in Solana was arrested after he sold drugs to a poseur. The suspect yielded a plastic sachet with shabu and a marked P500 bill.

The 3rd identified as Bernard Subido,34, a fisherman from Purok 2, Bgy. Minanga in Gonzaga municipality was arrested by local policemen who raided his house. The raid led in the recovery of five heat-sealed plastic sachets containing the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ and several drug paraphernalia.

The 4th identified as Roy Vincent Espergal, a 20-year old student from Bgy. Tallungan in Aparri was arrested after he sold dried marijuana leaves to a poseur in Bgy. Paddaya Este in Buguey. The suspect was found in possession of an estimated P1,000 worth of dried cannabis and the marked money handed to him by the agent.

Another suspect identified as Eduardo Durian Jr.,47, a farmer from Purok 5, Bgy. Bantay in Solana was arrested after officers recovered an unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun inside his house.

The 6th identified as Danny Viloria,52, a farmer from Bgy. Matucay in Allacapan municipality was arrested on the strength of a warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Francisco Donato of the Ballesteros Regional Trial Court Branch 33. Quilang said that the suspect has been tagged as the 7th most wanted person in Allacapan prior to his arrest.

The 7th identified as Gilbert Tanguilan,49, a farmer from Bgy. Callao in Peñablanca who has been tagged as the 6th most wanted person in the region was arrested in Sitio Sarawsaw in Bgy. Lapi on the strength of a warrant for three counts of rape respectively issued by Judge Raymond Reynold Lauigan, Judge Vilma Pauig and Judge Jezarene Aquino.

The warrants were issued in July 2015.

All suspects are now facing appropriate criminal charges, said Quilang.
