IN an effort to fully cover all residents of Manila with regard their queries and needs, Mayor Honey Lacuna said that the fora that she, Vice Mayor Yul Servo-Nieto and her partymates have begun will now be done on a weekly and per zone basis.

Now dubbed, “Kalinga sa Maynila: Pulong-pulong sa Pagtulong,” the said fora will be carried out in various barangays in random order. The first two such mass meetings with the residents were held in Blumentritt and Pandacan, respectively.

This is to ensure that common concerns that are experienced and dealt with by Manileños in their respective zones are heard and addressed.

“Kami ay pumupunta sa iba’t-ibang distrito para ilapit ang City Hall sa barangay. Yung mga concerns nila, diretso naming maririnig para maaksyunan agad,” Lacuna said.

The lady mayor also said that with the personal meetings being held with the residents, they will know directly the answers to certain issues instead of speculating or relying on fake news.

In the subsequent meetings, Lacuna will be joined not only by Servo-Nieto but also by the Congressmen and Manila Councilors of the district concerned and even certain department heads.

Lacuna, a doctor, added that just like what she did in the first two barangay for they have successfully conducted, she will also be bringing medical services to certain patients in the area where the future meetings will be held.

It was learned that the mayor also brings wheelchairs for those who have been rendered immobile due to illness or old age and then does door-to-door visits of identified patients after holding the forum, in order to personally deliver milk to senior citizens and medical assistance to those who need such.

Lacuna had gained the moniker ‘Door-to-Door Doktora’ for paying patients a personal visit to provide them cure, which she had been doing from the time that she was still a councilor up to the present.

During the height of the pandemic, she went to the extreme by vaccinating bedridden residents and those whose mobility are affected in such a way that they could not go to the vaccination sites.

In the first forum held in Blumentritt, Lacuna, accompanied by Servo, visited seven patients. Three are dialysis patients while the other four are stroke patients.
