ELEMENTS of Philippine National Police -Anti Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) arrested another suspect in the kidnapping of an Indian national during their operation, Monday night in Pasay City.
PNP-AKG Director Police Brig.Gen.Jonnel C. Estomo identified the suspect as Vergel Miranda Tagupa.
Tagupa was arrested based on warrant of arrest with no bail recommended along Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City at around 9 p.m.
The suspect went into hiding after his warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Tomas Ken D Romaquin, Jr, of RTC Branch 25 in Biñan City, Laguna.
The suspect was involved in the kidnapping of Anial Kumar Sohal, 29 on August 13,2017 in Biñan City, Laguna. The victim was released on August 16, 2017 upon payment of ransom amounting to P935,000.00 along NAIA Terminal 1, Pasay City.
Prior to the arrest of Tagupa, police arrested a certain Arnold Gastador Vargas on February 5, 2021.
During tactical interrogation, Vargas revealed the hideout of Tagupa, his cohort.
