THE heads of the 896 barangays in the city of Manila were praised and thanked by Mayor Honey Lacuna for helping her administration in disseminating information regarding city government programs from which the residents may benefit, specially when in comes to social services.
Lacuna, in her short message at the flag raising ceremony in City Hall on Monday, also called on the residents to constantly be in touch with their barangays and make sure that they bring their concerns to their chairmen so that proper action may be taken swiftly.
The mayor expressed gratitude to the heads of the city’s 896 barangays for continuously helping her administration attend to the needs of all Manilans.
Too, she invited the barangay chairpersons not to hesitate in seeking the city government’s action for issues affecting their jurisdiction.
The lady mayor also urged the barangay heads to be in constant touch with the Manila Barangay Bureau headed by Gilbert Sugay, who also assured that his office is always open for barangay chairpersons, to be of help to them in whatever way possible.
Lacuna said that constantly, the barangays are the first to be informed if there are any new programs or regulations that need to be implemented by the city government and the barangays, in turn, disseminate to their residents the details of the said new programs or regulations to make sure that they are properly guided or informed and thus benefit from them.
She also commended the efforts of barangay chairpersons in the proper and orderly handling of the payouts for the monthly allowances for senior citizens, solo parents, persons with disability and minors with disability.
