MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna announced the suspension of classes in the city on Monday due to tropical storm ‘Kristine.’
Lacuna said the suspension comes after weather bureau PAGASA raised signal no. 1 in Metro Manila as of 11:30 a.m.
The mayor added that pursuant to Department of Education Order No. 37, Series of 2022, the suspension is automatic covering classes from Kinder up to Senior High School.
The order includes public and private schools, online classes and the sa Alternative Learning System (ALS) of the local government.
“Manatili na lang po sa inyong mga tahanan at inaabisuhan ang lahat na maghanda at mag ingat,” the mayor said.
Kristine, the Philippines’ 11th tropical cyclone of 2024, entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday.
In Metro Manila, 1,403 barangays were reported vulnerable to landslide and flood hazards due to Kristine, including areas in Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela, Pasay, Pateros, Las Piñas, Makati, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Taguig, Quezon City, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pasig, San Juan and Manila.
