MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna ordered the release of the Manila North Cemetery schedule way ahead of the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day in November, urging the public that the deadline for cleaning or refurbishment of tombs or niches will be up to October 25, 2024 only.

This, she said, would allow visitors to also prepare accordingly, noting that the MNC headed by its Director, Yayay Castaneda, happens to the be biggest cemetery in the country which registers the most number of visitors annually specially on said days.

According to the advisory issued by the office of Castaneda, those who have departed loved ones in the said cemetery may undertake the cleaning, repainting or refurbishing of tombs or niches only up to October 25, from when the cemetery will no longer allow such.

Cremation meanwhile, will be suspended until after October 28 while the office of the MNC will be closed from October 27 to November 3, 2024.

All services including cremation and interment will resume on November 4.

From October 24 to November 4, the main gate of the cemetery will be open from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. only.

As usual, Lacuna said that from October 28 to November 4, all intoxicating drinks will be banned, along with pets, flammable materials like thinner and paint, guns, knives or similar objects, paraphernalia for gambling and playing of loud music.

Lacuna urged the public to start early instead of rushing to beat the deadline which, she said, will not be extended, the reason why the announcement was made this early.
