Leader of gun-for-hire syndicate falls in Ecija

GABALDON, Nueva Ecija – A suspected leader of a gun-for-hire syndicate which is also involved in gun-running activities was arrested after authorities implemented a gun search in his premises last Tuesday here.

Provincial police director Col. Jaime O. Santos identified the arrested suspect as Orlando Lazaro, 48, of Purok Quezon, Bgy. Ligaya, this town. He was tagged as the leader of the Lazaro criminal group allegedly involved in gun-for-hire and gun-running activities in Nueva Ecija.

Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Nueva Ecija, the local police here and the 1st provincial mobile group collared the suspect at 6:45 p.m. here after a search for illegal weapons at his house yielded positive results.

Seized were a .38 caliber revolver and five bullets, four bullets for a .45 caliber, seven live ammunition for a 9mm caliber and four live ammo for a 5.56mm.

Meanwhile, the Talavera police led by Lt. Col. Heryl L. Bruno arrested Ferdinand Javate, 54, of Bgy. Dimasalang Sur after implementing Oplan Charlie manhunt operations for two counts of murder against him at 12:40 p.m.

Bruno said the suspect did not resist arrest after being served a warrant issued by regional trial court judge Cynthia Martinez-Florendo, of Baloc, Sto. Domingo branch 37 with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty.

Javate was also previously arrested for drug charges last January 8, 2020.
