THE rainy season will likely cause musty smell on clothes. Even clothes stocked in the cabinet for months can have that “old smell”.

Here’s a do-it-yourself solution to refresh your fabrics and eliminate that “old and musty” smell.

You need one cup of water, two teaspoon of unflavored vodka (or witch hazel), one teaspoon of cornstarch and five drops of organic essential oil of lemon or lavender.

Why these ingredients? Lemon scent has been shown to lift spirits and elevate levels of mood-improving neurotransmitters. The plant-derived oils have natural antibacterial properties. The vodka or witch hazel can help the mist evaporate faster.

Combine all the ingredients in pitcher. Stir until cornstarch dissolves. Pour into a clean spray bottle.

Spray 6 to 8 inches from surface to freshen and eliminate odors. Shake gently between applications to remix.
