GOOD news to couples in Manila who have been living together and cannot get married due to lack of money to spend for it.
Mayor Honey Lacuna is inviting them to register in City Hall so they can be wedded either in Church or civil rites this coming June at no cost to them, under the city’s “Kasalang Bayan 2025.”
The said mass wedding will be held in celebration of the 455th Araw ng Maynila in June, with the wedding date set for June 14, 2025 and the Church wedding venue is San Vicente de Paul Parish, while the details for the civil wedding venue will be announced later.
According to Lacuna, those who are interested may go to the Manila Civil Registry Office or simply send a message to the Manila Public Information Office Facebook page to get the information they need and learn about the documents needed.
Civil Registry head Encar Ocampo said the available slots are limited and applicants will be entertained on a “first come, first served basis.”
Only those with proper, complete and approved documents will be able to join the mass wedding. The deadline for the submission of documents is on May 15, 2025, she said.
For those who want to avail of civil wedding and are not Catholic, the requirements are: certificate of no marriage (CENOMAR); marriage license (Manila Civil Registry-issued); birth certificate; valid identification card with Manila address (Government-issued); affidavit of cohabitation (for those aged 23 or older who have been living together for five years or more and with child) and birth certificate of child.
Meantime, for those who will avail of Church wedding, the applicants are required to present the following: CENOMAR; baptismal certificate (purpose: for Church wedding); confirmation certificate (purpose: for Church Wedding); marriage banns (for those who are not from the Intramuros Parish) and interview/seminar from Church.
Ocampo said both civil and Church wedding applicants are also required to present a marriage license (Manila Civil Registry-issued); birth certificate; valid ID with Manila address (government-issued) and affidavit of cohabitation (for those aged 23 or older who have been living together for five years or more and with a child; birth certificate of child.
Just like all other previous mass weddings under the Lacuna administration, the inclusions are: marriage license, wedding cord and veil, flower bouquet, arrhae (wedding tokens) and wedding rings.
The reception, venue, church marriage and wedding service will all be taken care of by the mayor’s office, just like in the previous mass weddings sponsored by the Lacuna administration.
