Lola, 73, hit by 2 vehicles, dies

A 73-YEAR-OLD streetsweeper was killed after being hit by two different vehicles, while crossing a street in Tondo, Manila the other night.

Lydia Infante, of 235 H. Lopez Blvd., Balut, Tondo, died while undergoing treatment in a hospital while the drivers of the said vehicles were taken into custody by the police. The drivers were identified as Dennis dela Cruz and Anecito Pequit.

A probe by Patrolman Rustom Arcyll de Guzman of the Manila Police District-Vehicle Traffic Investigation Section (VTIS) showed the accident occurred at 6:25 p.m. near the corner of Honorio Lopez and Rodriguez Streets in Balut, Tondo. The victim was said to be crossing the street when she was hit by the black Montero Sport being driven by Dela Cruz.

On impact, the victim was thrown and landed on the other side of the street where she was hit again by a taxicab being driven by Pequit.

Both drivers helped bring the victim to the Tondo General Hospital where she did not survive due to injuries sustained in the head and body.
