Lolo arrested for threatening family

A GUN wielding septuagenarian man who allegedly threatened to harm his own family landed in jail after his own son sought police assistance Tuesday evening in Pateros.

Arturo Malagkit, 70 of119 E. Quiogue St. Brgy. Aguho, Pateros was arrested by joint elements of Tactical Mobile Reaction Unit (TMRU) and Pateros Police Sub-Station 2 led by P/Cpl. Albert Oliva after his son, Dan Mathew, called for police assistance.

A report received by Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/ Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Peralta showed that at around 11:20 p.m., elements of Sub Station-2 received a call from Dan Mathew asking for police assistance after his armed father created trouble and allegedly threatened to kill them.

Cpl. Oliva asked for additional support from TMRU before proceeding to the area where they chanced upon the suspect while armed with unknown type of firearm.

Police said they were able to confiscate from the suspect assorted firearms consisting of two caliber .22 pistol with magazine, several pieces of ammunition for caliber .22 and 12 gauge shotgun, three pieces of improvised cal. 22 rifle, 125 rounds of 5.56 live ammunition and a barrel of an air gun.

Pateros police investigator P/SSgt. Mark Anthony Tayaban said the suspect will be presented for inquest proceedings before the Pateros Municipal Prosecutor on charges for violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act.
