Lovelife isn’t Winwyn’s priority, happy for Mark and Nicole

WINWYN Marquez is always being asked how she feels now that ex-boyfriend Mark Herras is about to be a dad again (he had a previous love child), with his current fiancee, Nicole Donesa. “Honestly, I’m very happy for them,” she says. “Matagal na kaming wala ni Mark and given the chance, I would like to see them and congratulate them personally.”

How come she herself has yet to find a new BF after Mark? “Kailangan ba, laging may boyfriend? Happy naman ako being single. I believe darating din ‘yung tamang lalaking inilaan ni Lord for me, pero hindi ko hinahanap. Meron namang nanliligaw, but it’s not a priority for me. At saka may pandemic, ayoko ng ligawang text-text lang, facetime or online. Maghihintay na lang ako ng tamang panahon.”

Winwyn is currently undergoing regular military training every weekend under the Philippine Navy and she will finish her course by November.

“The experience is life-changing. I would like to take part in civil and military operations, as well as in humanitarian work. I have always gravitated toward the path of service. I want to be able to protect not only my loved ones but also our fellowmen in times of emergencies,” she says.

She just did lock in taping for the weeklong episode, “High Rise Lovers”, which will be featured in GMA-7’s hit primetime drama anthology, “I Can See You”. She plays the third wheel in the romance of Lovi Poe and Tom Rodriguez. Lovi plays Samantha while Tom plays Luis. Their marriage has been deteriorating as they have conflicting views and objectives in life.

The couple has just moved to a new condominium unit. Samantha is so devoted to her own career and is due for another promotion that she neglects her duties as a wife. Luis is an engineer-contractor who’s currently unemployed. He then meets another condo owner, Winwyn as Isabel, who wants to have her unit renovated and she asks Luis to do it. They become very close in the process.

“My character as Isabel is a free-spirited young woman. A passionate artist and singer who wants to experience love but avoids the serious commitment that goes with it,” says Winwyn. “So ako ‘yung magiging dahilan kung bakit magkakaroon ng big conflict sa mag-asawa. Don’t miss it as I’m sure a lot of people can relate with it and you’ll gain a lot of insights about relationships when you watch it. Magaganda ‘yung confrontation scenes namin dito ni Lovi as the wife and the kabit, so abangan nyo.”

She’s glad to get back to work doing a short series like “High Rise Lovers”. “It gives you the perfect chance to experience how it is to do taping in the new normal before going to a full-length series. Siyempre, maraming safety protocols and you’ll also learn how to do love scenes in the time of the pandemic. You just have to leave a lot of it to the viewer’s imagination. And despite the difficulties, life goes on.”

“High Rise Lovers” starts airing this Monday, October 12, after “Encantadia”, also starring Teresa Loyzaga and Divine Tetay, directed by Monti Parungao.

Inventive episode on ‘Pepito Manaloto’

MICHAEL V, as concept creator, creative director and lead actor of the hit sitcom, “Pepito Manaloto”, now comes with another inventive episode of the show called “Kuwento, Kuwento!” It’s a new storytelling format where Kapuso viewers are treated to several mini-stories in one episode, highlighting the wacky and entertaining situations in the life of each beloved character featured in it.

This Saturday, the first mini-story will focus on Pepito (Michael V.) as he purchases an expensive new gaming speaker system online without telling his wife Elsa (Manilyn Reynes). Lucky for him, Elsa is busy scheduling a manicure-pedicure session with Deedee (Jessa Zaragoza). Chito (Jake Vargas) finds out about the new gadgets and wants to try it out with Pepito. Will Elsa discover Pepito’s new guilty pleasure?

The second mini-story is about Patrick (John Feir) and Robert (Arthur Solinap) who are supposed to be picking up Baby (Mosang) from the store. Patrick starts to feel hungry and suggests that they grab a bite first. From fishball to corn on the cob, Robert rejects all of Patrick’s suggestions because he’s on a diet. How long will Baby have to wait for them to fetch her?

And in the third mini-story, Tere (Cherry Malvar) invites Vincent (Tony Lopena) to join the dance contest in their upcoming online office party, where the only rule is to base their steps on viral TikTok videos. Vincent declines even after hearing that Pepito will give a cash prize of P20,000 to the winner. After Tere sells some of her beauty products to Deedee, she can’t seem to find Vincent. Where could he be and what could he be up to?

“It’s an innovative way of presenting our show,” says MIchael V. “Para hindi magsawa ang viewers. Parang three stories in one ito and all the characters are given the chance to shine on their own. Sure akong magugustuhan nyo. Get ready to laugh out loud this Saturday in the brand new episode of “Pepito Manaloto: Kuwento, Kuwento!” after “24 Oras Weekend” on GMA-7.”

Five brand new episodes on ‘Magpakailanman’

MEL Tiangco is back in full force as her drama show, “Magpakailanman”, presents five brand new episodes for this month, featuring inspiring stories of bravery, sacrifice, hope, and love for Kapuso viewers.

“Yes, we have a special treat to our loyal viewers kasi piling-pili ang lahat ng episodes na aming ipapalabas,” says Mel. “This actually started last Saturday when Shaira Diaz starred in ‘Viral Frontliner: The Lorraine Pingol Story,’ which showcased the real-life struggles of a nurse who recently went viral online after helping a street dweller give birth. She co-starred with Yayo Aguila, Luis Hontiveros and Anthony Rosaldo. Ang ganda ng feedback dito kaya tuwang-tuwa kami. Pero abangan nyo ang next episodes, dahil mas higit pa silang magaganda.”

This Saturday (October 10), Bea Binene plays Lorie in the “The Lockdown Wife,” another timely story of a battered wife who was stuck at home with an abusive husband during the community quarantine.

“This is my most mature role to date,” says former child star Bea Binene. “First time kong gumanap na battered wife. Sa simula, Lorie and Dexter, played by Martin del Rosario, are a happily married couple. To fulfill their dream of having a child, Lorie quits her job and stays home, while Dexter continues to work and provide for their needs. But over time, Dexter begins to change and becomes so possessive. He thinks his wife is an object that he could hurt and do anything to. Also in this episode are James Teng and Maritess Joaquin, directed by Rado Peru. Don’t miss it at panoorin nyo kung paano ako bugbugin dito ni Martin.”

On October 17, love takes on a surprising turn in “Sign Language of Love”, which stars Thea Tolentino and Jeric Gonzales as Jessica and Louie. Jessica is a teacher in a school for the deaf where she meets and falls in love with her student, Louie.

More than the communication barriers between them, they will face the unforgiving and discriminating judgment of the people around them. To better portray their roles, both Thea and Jeric underwent a series of workshops to learn sign language. The episode is under the direction of Don Michael Perez.

On October 24, #MPK showcases the inspiring story of Lairca Nicdao, a gold medalist at the 2019 World Para Dance Sport Championships held in Germany. After surviving cancer, Lairca did not let having a prosthetic leg and being bullied for most of her life hinder her from reaching her dreams and becoming the country’s newest Junior World Para Dance champion.

For the final Saturday of the month, a special Halloween presentation will be aired on October 31 with the haunting tale of a woman who grew up being sexually abused in her sleep by a maligno. As a child, Mayet has always been able to see otherworldly elements, but things get even more frightening for her when the shadow that she sees and harasses her when she goes to bed followed her until she grew up. It’s a truly scary story perfect for Halloween. Don’t miss #MPK’s all-new episodes this October, every Saturday, 8:15 p.m., after ‘The Clash’ on GMA-7.
