A 54-year-old male passenger was shot inside the Iloilo International Airport after he went berserk and reportedly wielded a bladed weapon, endangering the lives of other people inside the said airport located in Cabanatuan.
Reportedly, the incident took place on Wednesday afternoon, when the said passenger who was then bound for Cebu City was required to have his bag placed under the x-ray for security screening When a knife was detected inside his luggage, personnel from the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) personnel informed him that his bag would have to be subjected to further scrutiny.
OTS chief Gilbert Cruz said the passenger panicked, took out his bag from the x-ray tunnel and pulled out a knife, even using it to ward off the responding authorities and sending other passengers in a frenzy.
The passenger was shot in one of his shoulders in order to disable him from causing harm to others. He was brought to a hospital and is now recuperating after getting treatment for his wound.
An investigation is underway regarding the incident.
