Man nabbed for cracking bomb joke inside Quiapo Church

Manila Police District chief Col. Arnold Thimas Ibay announced the arrest by MPD-Plaza Miranda Police Community Precinct (PCP) cops of a 42-year-old man who reportedly cracked a bomb joke right inside the Quiapo Church while a mass was ongoing, yesterday morning.

Suspect Dennis Garcia of No. 32 Salazar St., Barangay Talipapa, Quezon City, was said to have joked about bomb before security guard Michael Tamayo, 38, of 1886 B Oroqueta St.. Sta Cruz Manila.

The incident took place at around 5:30 a.m. where the suspect was arrested by two policemen from the Plaza Miranda- PCP for violation of PD 1727 (declaring as unlawful the malicious dissemination of false information or the wilfull making of any threat concerning bombs, explosives or any similar device or means of destruction).

At that time, there were about 1,300 devotees attending mass inside the Church.

The suspect had been charged before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
