Man stabbed in abdomen, swims across river, dies

A JOBLESS man who tried to escape death after being stabbed in the abdomen in Malabon City died after swimming all the way across the Tullahan River to Valenzuela City Sunday evening.

Joshua Tavera, 24, of Area 5 Dumpsite, Pinalagad Bgy. Malinta, Valenzuela City, succumbed to his wound in the abdomen while being rushed to Valenzuela Medical Center.

Police are now hunting the suspect identified as Ryan Morados, 44, of Saint James, Dulong Sisa Ext. Brgy. Tinajeros, Malabon City.

Investigation conducted by the Malabon Police Station Investigation Unit showed that while Tavera was walking along Sisa Ext. at around 6 p.m., the suspect suddenly appeared and stabbed him in the abdomen.

Though wounded, the victim jumped into the river to escape the pursuing suspect and swam all the way to Valenzuela City where he sought the help of bystanders who rushed him to the hospital.

Police said the incident was witnessed by a 21-year-old man who positively identified the suspect.
