Man who ‘raped, impregnated’ stepdaughter nabbed in Ecija

RIZAL, Nueva Ecija — Police conducting Oplan Charlie manhunt operations bagged one of Antique province’s most wanted felons on Sunday morning here.

Newly-appointed acting chief of police Major Jaime P. Ferrer identified the arrested suspect as Rogelio Resurrecion, 37, laborer, a native of Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat.

Ferrer said his arrest was carried out by joint elements of the Rizal and the Culasi police after two arrest warrants for rape were issued against him by Judge Josefina Muego of the Culasi, Antique Regional Trial Court Branch 13 on Sept. 4, last year.

The rape victim, said to be the suspect’s stepdaughter, was allegedly just 15 -years- old when the crime was committed in 2013.

After impregnating the victim, Ferrer said the victim later bore a child — a daughter, who is now about seven years old.

Ressurecion, who went to Rizal and worked as a laborer to escape arrest, was tagged as the number five most wanted person in Culasi town and is now locked at the detention cell here with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty.

Ferrer said the suspect’s whereabouts were tracked down by his men through social media, enabling them to locate and arrest him at an apartment in Poblacion Sur.
