Manila as water polo capital

MANILA, the nation’s capital, is determined to be the center of water polo.

Isa po sa ating mga pangarap ay ang makapagtatag ng Water Polo Team dito sa lungsod at mapaunlad ang naturang sport hanggang sa makilala ang siyudad bilang Water Polo capital of the Philippines!,” Mayor Isko Moreno posted on his official Facebook account Monday night.

As part of the city’s sports and development program, Southeast Asian Games water polo medalist Dale Evangelista, who is also a barangay chairman in Tondo’s District 1, has met with Manila Sports Council Director Roel de Guzman Monday on how to grow the game.

Although it has yet to win the gold medal in the biennial meet, the Philippine water polo team, which Evangelista was a player and currently on the coaching staff, has been a perennial contender against regional powers Singapore and Indonesia.

Evangelista has already identified some aquatic facilities, and that the development program will be for the Manila’s six districts.
