THE city government of Manila under the administration of Mayor Honey Lacuna, has officially passed the 2024 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) assessment, proving its commitment to sound fiscal management, accountability and good governance.
The said recognition was handed over to the lady mayor by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), which described Manila’s achievement in its Facebook post, thus: “A well-deserved recognition for transparency and excellence.”
“This achievement reflects the city’s dedication to responsible financial stewardship, ensuring that public funds are managed efficiently for the benefit of every Manileño,” the DILG further stated.
It will be recalled that in 2023, the same accolade was also given to the city under Lacuna’s reins for passing the 2022 good financial housekeeping assessment.
“Ito po ‘yung katunayan na ang nakaupo (Mayor Lacuna) ay matino at mahusay sa paghawak ng ating pananalapi. Lahat ng documents ay maaring ma-access ng publiko,” the DILG stated.
For her part, Lacuna said the recognition will inspire her to strive to do even better and expressed hope that her co-workers in City Hall will do the same.
Time and again, Lacuna is of the principle that when it comes to city funds, she and all other city officials are really very careful in making sure that the people’s money are spent wisely and efficiently.
The lady mayor credited all other officials and employees in charge of keeping the city government’s finances in proper order at all times, despite the P17.8 billion debt left behind by her predecessor, Isko Moreno.
She stressed that all of the accomplishments of her administration and the accolades that the local government gets are achieved through the support and help of all city government employees and officials.
“Hindi po natin makakamit ang mga bagay na ito nang ako lamang mag-isa. Kaya naman, salamat sa aking mga kasamahan sa City Hall at nawa ay magsilbing inspirasyon ang mga parangal na kagaya nito para higit pa nating pagbutihin ang ating trabaho sa araw-araw,” said Lacuna.
