Mayor Honey Lacuna announced plans to lit up Manila in the belief that it is the best deterrent against criminal elements.

This was learned during the weekly “Kalinga sa Maynila” forum when a resident asked when the stretch of A.H. Lacson Avenue, a major thoroughfare in Sampaloc, will be lighted up.

Lacuna assured the said resident that the lighting up of the said area will start in a few days as she had already directed City Electrician Randy Sadac to begin the project as soon as possible.

The lady mayor backed up her assurance by saying that there are already funds that have been allotted for the said lighting project.

“Sisimulan na po at may nakalaan na diyan na pondo kaya sisimulan na po ng electrician’s office,” Lacuna said.

The mayor also asked the residents to inform her administration regarding areas that have to be lit up too.

According to Lacuna, she believes that darkness is the best ally of criminal elements which is why she had instructed Sadac for the purpose of creating brighter thoroughfares.

She added that motorists as well as commuters and pedestrians will also benefit from well-lit roads.
