Manila senior citizens get Christmas gifts, allowances from Mayor Honey, VM Servo

Christmas gifts for Manila senior citizens

Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto and the entire Asenso Manileño team distributed Christmas gift boxes for the senior citizens of Manila.

The activity coincides with the payout of the senior citizens’ allowances covering the months of from September to December 2024.

It was learned from Office of Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA) chief Elinor Jacinto that the city currently has a total of 191,144 seniors citizens and that each of them will be receiving P2,000.

The amount represents the P500 monthly allowance which is part of the special amelioration program (SAP) passed by the Manila City Council when Lacuna was its Presiding Officer.

Apart from the senior citizens, the beneficiaries of the said program in temrs of monthly allowance also includes persons with disability, solo parents and students from the two coty-run universities, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and the Universidad de Manila.

Simultaneously in Manila, Lacuna and Servo also gave financial help to a total of 244 residents who are getting treatment for cancer and dialysis.

The patients were personally met and given assistance by Lacuna and Servo at the “People’s Day” which is regularly being held at the Bulwagang Villegas in Manila City Hall.

The said program is a regular initiative of the administration of Lacuna which recognizes the needs of residents suffering from cancer and kidney ailments.

“Nais po ng pamahalaang lungsod na sa pamamagitan ng ganitong simpleng paraan ay makapagbigay kahit paano ng tulong para sa inyong pagpapagamot,” Lacuna said.
