TEACHERS and principals in Manila, both retired and active, were jabbed yesterday by the local government during the continuation of its vaccination rollout, as the number of persons already inoculated in the city has reached 76,690 prior to yesterday.

The vaccination, led by Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, was held at the Palacio de Manila on Roxas Boulevard in Ermita, Manila for teachers and principals belonging to the A2 and A3 categories, or those who are senior citizens or aged 18 to 59 with comorbidities.

Meanwhile, Moreno thanked Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III for the arrival of ten brand-new and fully-equipped ambulances for distribution to the six hospitals being run by the city. Moreno personally received the ambulances along with Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and Manila Health Department chief Dr. Arnold Pangan and said that the ambulances will be a great help not only for COVID patients but for those with other life-threatening illnesses too.

Moreno called on those who will be driving the ambulances to treat them with utmost care, saying they are essential in helping save lives.

Regarding the ongoing payout of the social amelioration program (SAP) funds from the national government, the mayor commended the Manila department of social welfare led by its director Re Fugoso and the social workers under her, for working even on weekends so that the total number of those who have already received their cash aid has already reached over 100,000 as of the other night.

“A total of 100,102 families already received P,000 each from the national government in a period of only one week. Congratulations to Director Re Fugoso and our social workers for going beyond the normal working hours and even days,” Moreno said, as he also lauded the members of the Manila Police District who have been guarding the payout sites to ensure peace and order.

“We will not stop dahil kailangan ng tao ng pera ngayon,” Moreno stated, adding that the city government’s food security program (FSP) is also continuing to complement the cash aid.

Now on its third consecutive month, the FSP has covered 299,000 families out of the targeted 700,000 families in the entire city, all in just a period of five days of non-stop delivery.

Once again, Moreno appealed to barangay chairpersons to dispatch at once the food boxes once they are delivered to their barangays.

“Wala naman kayong tosgas, pawis-pawis lang, laway-laway lang. Paglingkuran nyo na nang todo dahil di natin alam kung sino kakian ngayon at sino ang hindi,” he stressed.
