Thus reported Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, as she announced forthcoming changes in the days to come, all aimed at coming up with a better system to support the programs that have been lined up for further improving the city’s collection and basic services.
The mayor also lauded the efforts of the city’s revenue-generating departments, bureaus and offices to digitize their operations which ensures that all funds due to the city will indeed go to the city.
Too, Lacuna expressed gratitude to City Treasurer Jasmin Talegon and all the some 300 men and women working with her for an efficient system of tax collection.
Echoing what Talegon stated that every peso counts, Lacuna said: “Napakaraming obligasyon ng ating pamahalaan, kaya tama ang sinabi ni Mam Jaz na bawat isang piso o limang piso ay napakahalaga na pumasok nang tama sa ating lungsod.”
“Sa mga pagbabagong inyong mararanasan sa mga susunod na linggo at buwan, makatitiyak kayo na ang mga ito ay malaking tulong para sa aring lungsod,” she added.
Lacuna said the city government has also established a system which will make available in real time, all vital information that will be helpful to the city’s fiscal standing and pinpoint areas of primary concern.
She also expressed support to the efforts of digitizing all departments, offices and bureaus.
“Lahat ay gusto nang ma-digitize to ensure na papasok talaga ang lahat nang dapat para sa lungsod. Patunay nito ang mas mataas na koleksyon ngayon kung ikukumpara sa mga nakaraang taon,” Lacuna said.
“Sa ilalim ng aking pamamahala, lahat ng inyong makikitang pagbabago, tiyak na para sa ikabubuti ng lungsod,” she stressed.
Talegon had reported that the online payment collection of taxes has helped in meeting the collection target and has made the city’s collection efficiency a lot better in the past few years.
