Matteo shares what he has discovered about Sarah

Matteo Guidicelli

MATTEO Guidicelli ended the past year as a judge in TV5’s “Masked Singer”. He now starts 2021 as the host of the new TV5 reality talent search, “Born to be a Star”, produced by Viva TV that will start airing on January 30, Saturday at 7 PM.

“I’m really excited kasi after I was a judge, host naman ako ngayon at ang co-host ko, si Kim Molina, dating kong kasama as a judge sa ‘Masked Singer’,” he says. “Ngayon, mag-co-hosts na kami and it’s really nice kasi Kim is such a funny and energetic host. Maganda agad ang chemistry namin as hosts of ‘Born to be a Star’.”

He has seen the initial crop of contestants and he says they’re all very talented. “They come from different backgrounds but they’re all quite impressive, so siguradong mage-enjoy ang televiewers natin when the show starts airing at the end of this month.”

Instead of judges, they will have what they call star agents who will help in mentoring the contestants. “Nakakatuwa kasi iba-iba ang personality nila. There are five of them, starting with comedian Andrew E, choreographer Georcelle Sy, and singers Sam Concepcion, Katrina Velarde and Jenine Tenoso. The prizes are really grand, including P1 million cash, plus recording and management contract with Viva.”

Jenine Tenoso was a contestant in the first “Born to be a Star” held four years ago with Ogie Alcasid, Mark Bautista and Yassi Pressman as hosts. She did not win but Viva continued to nurture her career and she sang the theme songs of a number of Viva movies, including the song “Tag-araw” from the hit “Miracle in Cell No. 7”. This gave her the title Original Sound Track Queen.

The winner then was Shane Dandan but her career did not prosper the way Jenine’s career did. Going back to Matteo, he and wifey Sarah G. will celebrate their first anniversary next month. How would he describe their first year as husband and wife?

“It’s great!” he says. “I’ve discovered more about her. She’s really serious in doing her wifely duties. Mahusay na siyang magluto, maglinis, maglaba. She’s joking nga na puwede na siyang mamasukan as a helper. And most of all, we discovered she has a talent for baking, for being a pastry chef. She’s taking it very seriously. When she’s baking, you cannot bother her. It’s her own time. She makes the perfect cakes. Her blueberry cheesecake will just blow your mind.”
