THE administration of Mayor Honey Lacuna reaped awards in the highly-prestigious 2024 Urban Governance Exemplar Awards for its all-out and consistent efforts in providing the children of Manila utmost protection and the best services that the city could offer.
The awards numbering three in all, were received by the city government of Manila at the 32nd celebration of the National Children’s Month held in City Hall.
Lacuna received the three awards along with Manila Department of Social Welfare head Re Fugoso and the Manila Council for the Protection of Children Vice Chairperson Councilor Roma Robles, who all thanked the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the recognitions bestowed upon the city. Said awards were handed by DILG-Manila Director John Visca.
The lady mayor also expressed gratitude to and credited the hard work of all the officials and employees concerned, for the city government to merit such awards.
It was learned that for the third straight year, the city government of Manila was cited for its numerous initiatives in protecting children, via the highest form of recognition for its ‘Ideal Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) Audit.’
Also for the second time, Manila was awarded for its ‘Highly-Functional Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (LCAT-VAWC)’, while the third award it received is for ‘High Performing Peace and Order Council Performance Audit.’
Lacuna, in her ‘State of the Children Address’, reiterated her administration’s commitment to fully support all kinds of effort geared towards the protection of children specially against any and all forms of violence.
On the same occasion, the various department heads, employees and child protection advocates also swore to work for the progress and safety of youngsters.
