Mayor Honey Lacuna expressed her debt of gratitude to the city residents who paved the way for the start of her successful political career that culminated in her becoming the first lady mayor in the history of Manila.

As part of her birthday celebration, Lacuna distributed rice and roast chicken to residents of Barangays 525 and 616 where she is registered and where she grew up, respectively.

Barangay officials in the said areas feted the lady mayor, whom they consider as their very own homegrown hero, having began her political career with them, first as a Manila Councilor and later as a department head, Vice Mayor and now Mayor.

In her short message, Lacuna thanked the barangay officials and residents for sparing time to spend with her and for their continued support.

Saying while she considers herself lucky for becoming the Mayor of the country’s capital city, Lacuna said: “mas swerte po ako sa inyo dahil kayo po ang unang nagtiwala sa akin mula nung ako ay maging konsehal, vice mayor hanggang ngayon bilang mayor.”

Lacuna also assured them that she will give her all to not shortchange them and to make them proud.

The mayor also held a gift-giving activity the whole day of Saturday, highlighted by birthday parties for senior citizens and children who either celebrated their birthdays on the same day as hers or within the month of May.
