Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna graced the graduation of Alternative Learning System (ALS) at the Manila City Jail with a call for them to make good use of the time they are spending in detection by pursuing higher education.

In her speech, she also thanked Superintendent Rita Riddle of DepEd- Manila for bringing the ALS program to the Manila City Jail.

The mayor also expressed gratitude to BJMP Regional Director Chief Superintendent Clint Russel Tangeres for allowing the said inmates to take part in the said learning program.

ALS Supervisor Lea Faa and City Jail Warden Maria Lourdes Pacion were also present and acknowledged by the mayor.

Lacuna said she is so happy to be a part of the inmates’ graduation. A total of 54 women aged 19-56 graduated.

The mayor also said that at times, we have to err in order to realize what is right.

In the same breadth, she said that hardships come for us to learn and strive to experience a comfortable life.

In greeting the graduates, Lacuna said that they should savor the fruits of their labor and their efforts to prepare for a better life and future.
