Mayor Honey Lacuna celebrated her birthday yesterday with senior citizens and children residents who like her, were also celebrating their birthday yesterday.

The senior citizens numbering about 300 and coming from the six districts of Manila were given a buffet party at the San Andres Sports Complex.

Mayor Honey gave them two birthday cakes each -one from her and the other from the city government- red envelopes or ‘angpao,’ bags containing vitamins and milk.

Her chief of staff Joshue Santiago said the senior citizens who attended the party blowout given by the lady mayor were fetched and taken home by buses.

He said 74 other senior citizens were not able to attend either because they are bedridden or physically unable to travel anymore.

Just the same, Lacuna directed that they receive the same set of birthday gifts which will be delivered straight to their homes.

Lacuna gamely sang and danced with the senior citizens who were serenaded by a band.

At around 2 p.m., Lacuna proceeded to the Manila Zoo where she, assisted by social welfare chief Re Fugoso and Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau chief Zeny Viaje, gave another blowout for a total of 154 children who were also given food, birthday cakes, stuffed toys, loot bags, ‘angpao’ and free tickets to the zoo along with their companions.

The said children were also fetched and taken home by buses to and from the zoo.

After the party that took place from 2 to 4 p.m., the kids went promenading in the zoo.

Asked what her birthday wish is, Lacuna said all she wants is the continued trust and support of Manilans, whom she thanked for their confidence in her.

She also assured the city residents that she will continue giving her best in providing them the quality services they deserve.
