A better, more beautiful ‘Paraiso ng Batang Maynila’ that would provide Malate residents who want to while their time away with a more relaxing, cool promenade area was inaugurated by Mayor Honey Lacuna on Monday night.

Lacuna was joined by Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Acting Chairman Atty. Romando Artes, Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto, Father Domingo Asuncion of the Our Lady of Assumption Church, City Engineer Armand Andres and City Electrician Randy Sadac, Councilors Mon Yupangco and Charry Ortega among others, in formally opening to the public the newly-improved ‘Paraiso ng Batang Maynila.’

It complements the similarly newly-rehabilitated Manila Zoo located right across the said park.

“Pinasisinayaan natin ang proyektong ito ng pagsasaayos, pagpapaganda at pagpapaliwanag nitong Paraiso ng Batang Maynila, kung saan ay inayos ang mahigit sa 2,000 metro kuwadradong park,” the mayor said.

It was learned that among the new features of the said park are the 200 meters jogging path, benches that could serve as areas for resting or simply hanging out with friends, various kinds of lights and a beautiful landscape.

Lacuna stressed the role that parks play in helping promote a healthy lifestyle among the residents, who are encouraged to use the park to the fullest.

The mayor also took the opportunity to call on the barangay officials that have jurisdiction over the park or those nearby to ensure that the park is taken care of and protected against any and all forms of vandalism.

She called on them and the residents as well, to work hand-in-hand with the city government in making sure that the said park remains beautiful, clean and orderly at all times.

The mayor said that the transformation of the New Paraiso ng Batang Maynila is part of efforts to develop open, green spaces for the public to enjoy, amid the recent hot weather condition.

Presently, the park also has playground areas as well as a huge basketball court with garden and gazebos, lamp posts, bollards and a fountain that is lighted in the evening.
