Mayor Honey Lacuna commended the Manila Police District -District Drug Enforcement Unit (MPD-DDEU) under the leadership of MPD Director PBGen. Andre Dizon for the seizure of 1.2 kilos of shabu worth over P8 million during a drug operation in Sta. Cruz, Manila as she warned that the city of Manila has no room for illegal drugs.

The suspect, identified as Yasser Hadji Noor, was presented by Dizon to the mayor following his arrest at the corner of P. Guevarra and Remegio Street in Sta. Cruz.

Lacuna lauded Dizon and the MPD-DDEU headed by its team leader PSMS Jonathan Acido and his eight team members that conducted the drug operation.

Reportedly, Acido led the team that carried out the buy-bust operation which led to the suspect’s arrest and the confiscation of shabu with an estimated street value of P8. 1 million.

It was learned that the operation was a result of a long surveillance regarding his illegal activities.

Charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 had been filed against the suspect before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.

In thanking the police, Lacuna said that when it comes to illegal drugs, her standing orders are for all efforts be geared toward a drug-free city.

Illegal drugs, she stressed, is the root of so many evils including the perpetration of crimes against innocent, law-abiding citizens by drug-crazed individuals.

A doctor who values clean and healthy living, Lacuna also noted how illegal drugs have destroyed the lives of individuals and families as well, which is why she wants operations against drugs to be done without any letup.
