Mayor Honey lauds MPD on its 122nd Anniversary

Manila Police District (MPD)

MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna led the celebration of the 122nd founding anniversary of the Manila Police District (MPD) on Tuesday, February 21 in simple ceremonies held along United Nations Avenue in Ermita, Manila, expressing pride over how MPD lives up to its reputation as the country’s premier police district.

The lady mayor was joined by Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. and MPD Director PBGen. Andre Dizon, as she trooped the line and led the wreath-laying ceremony, followed by a 21-gun salute. Said event was held in the area fronting the MPD Headquarters.

On the MPD’s founding anniversary, Lacuna commended the leadership of the MPD under PBGen. Dizon, as well as the men and women behind the MPD, saying it is because of them that Manilans get to sleep soundly at night.

“Taos pusong pagbati sa ating maipagmamalaking Manila’s Finest. Saludo tayo sa buong pwersa ng mga pulis-Maynila!,” said Lacuna.

The mayor also reiterated her earlier pronouncements that Manila has no room for illegal activities, specially drugs that lure youngsters and destroy lives and families.

She also commended Dizon and his men for the successful, orderly and peaceful holding of recent major events in the city.

These, she said, are the celebration of Christmas and New Year’s Day, activities related to the Feast of the Black Nazarene and the Feast of the Sto. Nino simultaneously held in Tondo and Pandacan.

Lacuna assured the MPD that the city government of Manila will support them in whatever way possible as she expressed gratitude to the MPD policemen for the role they played at the height of the pandemic and for keeping the streets of Manila safe from all kinds of crimes at all times.

The mayor also lauded Dizon for keeping up the standards that Manila deserves when it comes to the peace and order situation and for being guided by the basic principle that ‘where Manila goes, the country goes.”
