MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna, accompanied by Manila Police District (MPD) Director PBGen. Andre Dizon and City Engineer Armand Andres, made an ocular inspection of the Quirino Grandstand where some of the activities related to the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene will be held.

Lacuna and Dizon also led the send-off of the MPD personnel that will be detailed to keep the peace and order during the said activities.

Dizon assured the mayor that the MPD personnel assigned will efficiently secure the events slated for the said festival.

The mayor was briefed by Engr. Andres on the physical arrangements made and the backdrop for the said occasion, as the City Hall team also conducted cleanup activities in the said area.

A mass is expected to be held in the area while devotees will be allowed to take a glance at and wipe the image of the Black Nazarene instead of the usual ‘Pahalik.’

Meanwhile, Lacuna’s spokesperson issued a ‘FAKE NEWS ALERT’ after a post from a certain account made the rounds on social media announcing a class and work suspension on January 5.

Atty. Princess Abante said the fake news that trended online showed a grabbed photo from a previous announcement regarding class suspension.

“As of this posting, no announcement has been made by the City Government of Manila regarding suspension of classes and work for today, January 5, 2023,” Abante said.

“The City of Manila would like to remind the public that all official announcements shall be made through the Manila Public Information Office Facebook Page and through Mayor Dra. Honey Lacuna Facebook page,” she added.
