Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna met with the city’s “Task Force Undas” to polish measures in place for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1and 2, respectively.

Lacuna said the task force is composed of Manila North and South Cemetery Directors Yayay Castaneda and Jonathan Garzo, the city engineer’s office headed by Armand Andres, Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office Director Arnel Angeles, Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau chief Zenaida Viaje and adviser Dennis Viaje, Manila Heath Department chief Dr. Poks Pangan and Manila social welfare chief Re Fugoso and Manila Police District (MPD) Director Col. Arnold Ibay.

The mayor said that Ibay had assured that 350 policemen will be detailed at the Manila South Cemetery and 450 at the Manila North Cemetery.

Portalets will also be put in place for the throngs that are expected to troop to the said cemeteries during ‘Undas.’

Unlike last year when the public health emergency was still up due to the pandemic, Lacuna said that this time around, children will already be allowed.

The children, she said, will be tagged for easier tracking in case they get lost.

Pets, on the other hand, will not be allowed within the premises of the said two cemeteries.
