AS long as our Congressmen are behind us, the city government of Manila will always be assured of valuable support for its residents needing help.
Thus, Mayor Honey Lacuna stated, as she thanked Congessman Joel Chua (3rd district) for joining the efforts of the city administration in extending various forms of assistance to about 500 families who were displaced by a recent fire that hit Barangay 310 in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo were joined by Chua and city councilors in the distribution of financial assistance, relief goods, hygiene kits and other basic, essential needs for the fire victims.
“Ang pag-asang dala ng bawat tulong na ating binibigay ay patunay ng malasakit ng pamahalaan sa bawat pamilyang nangangailangan sa oras ng sakuna. Patuloy tayong magiging katuwang sa kanilang muling pagbango,” Lacuna said.
Meanwhile, hundreds of high school students have benefitted and continue to benefit from the Career Guidance Advocacy Program of the Manila city government.
Mayor Honey Lacuna said that the most recent beneficiaries are about 300 students from Tondo High School.
It was learned that the local government under Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo, had been conducting the said program in coordination with the Public Employment Service Office and the Department of Labor and Employment, Division of City Schools of Manila and the heads of schools concerned.
The mayor said that the orientation program is being held to guide and prepare the students from senior high school on what path to pursue, such as going to college, working or starting a business.
At the Justice Jose Abad Santos Senior High School, about 700 students were given orientation.
