ONCE again, a fake social media account went online, using Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, prompting the lady mayor to warn the public against it.
“Ang dami na po talagang peke ngayon. Kung may makita kayong kahina-hinalang account o post, maaring ipagbigay-alam po agad sa amin at i-report ito para wala nang mabiktimang iba. Malapit na po ang eleksyon kaya naglipana na naman ang mga mapanlinlang,” Lacuna stated in her official FB page, “Dra. Honey Lacuna.”
“Maging mapanuri po tayo at huwag huwag basta-basta maniniwala,” she added, as she also sought media’s help to disseminate the information.
This time around, Lacuna said that her official page, Dra. Honey Lacuna, was made to appear as a personal account.
“Fake po ‘yan. Hindi personal account and Dra. Honey Lacuna. Page ang Dra. Honey Lacuna,” she said.
As Lacuna warned the public against falling prey to the said fake account, she also thanked those who reported the matter to her.
This is not the first time that the mayor’s Facebook account had been faked.
It will be recalled that also in February last year, a similar poser Facebook account using her name, picture and even some posts have been used on social media to make it appear that she owned the page.
The fake account was http://www.facebook.com/jenny.basilonia.940.
And then in August 2023, the same thing happened, with Lacuna’s spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante even issuing a statement saying: “We ask the public to help report this unauthorized social media account impersonating the City Mayor.”
Abante lamented that the mayor’s legitimate Facebook page was created to provide the public, especially the residents of Manila whom she serves, accurate and updated information regarding the goings-on in her administration and the city.
Clearly, this is yet another attempt at misleading the public, she added.
Apart from the official Facebook account of ‘Dra. Honey Lacuna,’ another legitimate source of information about Manila is the ‘Manila Public Information Office or (MPIO) Facebook account, said Abante.
