COVID is still here.
Thus, Mayor Honey Lacuna strongly reminded Manila residents, as she once again appealed for those who have not had any vaccination to already take the shots, whether primary or booster.
Lacuna likewise called on Manilans to continue observing the minimum health protocols specially now that gatherings related to the holidays happen left and right.
The call was made by Lacuna after the most recent COVID update in the city showed that some individuals still get infected.
The mayor was particularly saddened that a COVID-related death was also reported, saying: “May pumanaw sa impeksyon. Dapat po talaga wala nang ganito eh. Meron pa rin tayong available vaccines kundi pa kayo nababakunahan o nagpapa-booster Vaccination is still the solution against COVID-19.”
For those who have been vaccinated and even boosted, Lacuna said there is still the need to be careful and to continue observing health protocols like wearing face masks in places where transmission possibility is high and physical distancing is not possible.
“Patuloy tayong mag-ingat dahil may mga nagkakaroon pa rin ng COVID. Di natin maaring sabihin na porke’t bakunado ay ligtas na against COVID dahil marami kaming kakilala nakaka-tatlo na, nagkakaroon pa rin,” the mayor added.
Lacuna also pointed out that since a number of people still get infected, it only goes to show that COVID is still very much in our midst.
“Ibig lang sabihin nito na di pa rin tayo ligtas, ke nagkaron dati o ngayon pa lang, COVID is still here to stay, lalo na ngayong Kapaskuhan na madami nang tao sa labas at ang pagsusuot ng face masks ke indoor o outdoor, ay pareho nang boluntaryo,” the lady mayor stated.
Lacuna also stressed that even while the numbers or percentages relating to COVID may be small, the fact remains that there are still new cases adding up to the old ones.
