ONCE again, the city of Manila garnered several awards, this time in recognition of its health system and disaster response.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna thanked the Department of Health (DOH) for the four awards bestowed upon the city, saying they will definitely serve to inspire her administration and the people behind it to work even more to give the utmost service to the residents of Manila.
The lady mayor also congratulated the Manila Health Department (MHD) headed by Dr. Arnold ‘Poks’ Pangan for the awards received by the city from the DOH-Metro Manila Center for Health Development (MMCHD).
The awards were given during the 2024 Local Health System Recognition Towards Universal Health Care ceremony held on November 123, 2024 at the Ardenhills Hotel in Quezon City.
The awards given were as follows: Outstanding Performance in the Implementation of Local Health System Reforms; Outstanding Efforts in Successfully documenting Good Practices in Health (GPH); Establishing an Organized and Functional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management for Health and for the city of Manila’s Commitment in Ensuring a Responsive Local health System.
Lacuna expressed pride for the performance of the MHD personnel which resulted in the said awards and thanked them for their continued support toward the goal of achieving a ‘Magnificent Manila in 2030.’
Before this, just very recently, the city government’s tourism and social welfare departments, headed by Charlie Dungo and Re Fugoso respectively, also reaped awards for their performance.
On top of this, Lacuna was hailed as the fifth best performing mayor in the recent ‘Social Pulse Survey: Pulso ng Bayan’ with an 88.7 percent approval rating.
