Mayor Lacuna orders evacuation of hundreds of families, suspension of classes amid typhoon

MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna ordered the evacuation of hundreds of families due to typhoon ‘Carina’ and the Southwest Monsoon.

In a report to the mayor, social welfare department chief Re Fugoso said that as of 3 p.m., the affected families from District 1 who were evacuated to the Delpan Evacuation Center consisted of 84 families from Barangay 20 in Isla Puting Bato; two families from Barangay 128, Bldg. 3; 40 families from Barangay 101, Bldg. 1 covered court Katuparan and 36 families from R10 Green Bldg., 3rd Floor.

In District 3, a total of 28 families were evacuated from Barangy 275, Gate 54 and 58. In Baseco, 174 families were evacuated.

As of 1 p.m., an update from the office Lacuna reported gutter deep floodwaters on M. Adriatico, Padre Faura to Intersion 2, Quirino Station S. E2 (Vito Cruz L.), Quirino Station S. E2 (Facing Vito Cruz R.), P. Ocampo to Roxas, Quirino Station E2 S. (To Entrance), P. Ocampo To LRT Station, Taft NBI Parking Taft NBI Exit, Taft cor. Natividad (sakayan) and Taft Avenue NBI.

The mayor’s spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante meanwhile said that Lacuna has ordered the suspension of all classes in private elementary and high schools in Manila, to include face-to-face classes.
