Mayor WES Launches Fitness Program for City’s Uniformed Personnel

Valenzuela City Supports Uniformed Personnel Fitness: City Mayor WES Gatchalian formally starts the Uniformed Personnel Fitness Program, Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the Wellness Entertainment Sports Arena. In his speech Mayor WES Gatchalian pledged to support Valenzuela City Uniformed Personnel- Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Valenzuela City Disaster Risk Reduction Office (VCDRRMO) to keep their bodies healthy and fit. He also stated that the city will allow them to use the WES Arena facilities exclusively every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month which will help them form bonds and camaraderie between offices.

Valenzuela City Mayor WES Gatchalian as part of his first 100 days agenda officially launched the Uniformed Personnel Fitness Program at The Wellness, Entertainment and Sports (WES) Arena, Barangay Punturin, October 13.

“MagWESxercise Tayo! Uniformed Personnel Fitness Program” is an initiative of the first-time Mayor as he aims to promote physical fitness and wellness among the Uniformed Personnel of Valenzuela City. These Uniformed Personnel are from the Valenzuela City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (VCDRRMO), Valenzuela City – Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Mayor WES believes that a physically fit personnel can serve better in times of disaster and emergency. “Sa ating mga kasama sa VCDRRMO, PNP, BJMP, and BFP, kunin ninyo na po itong pagkakataon na ito to refresh everybody. Twice a month, ipapahiram po namin sa inyo ang facility ng WES Arena. Make the best out of it.” (To our comrades in VCDRRMO, PNP, BJMP, and BFP, take this opportunity to refresh everybody. Fitness Program
Basic Warm-up and Progression Exercise: Fitness Coach Chappy Callanta leads the Circuit Training Demo of the Valenzuela City Uniformed Personnel Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Valenzuela City Disaster Risk Reduction Office (VCDRRMO). Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the Wellness Entertainment Sports (WES) Arena. This is part of the Uniformed Personnel Fitness Program. He demonstrates the proper basic warm-up and progression exercise in front of the Uniformed Personnel.

The Valenzuela City Sport Coordinator and PBA Legend Gerry Esplana reiterated that the City’s Uniformed Personnel can use the WES Arena every second and fourth Thursday of every month to intensify their training exercises and to further encourage camaraderie among them. The WES Arena facilities include two basketball courts, volleyball and badminton court, gym, boxing ring, chess, darts, and table tennis area.

He added that he will oversee the fitness program and he is looking forward to a mini-tournament among the Uniformed Personnel.

VCDRRMO Training Demo: Valenzuela City Mayor WES Gatchalian personally witnesses the Actual Training Demo conducted by the Valenzuela City Disaster Risk Reduction Office (VCDRRMO) selected personnel to formally kick off the Uniformed Personnel Fitness Program, Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the VCDRRMO Training Center. The demo aims to show the basic types of rappelling and ziplining that can be used by VCDRRMO and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel in times of crisis.

During the launching, the City invited a Strength and Conditioning Fitness Coach, Mr. Chappy Callanta to commence a warm-up training for the Uniformed Personnel.

Mayor WES Gatchalian marked his first 100 days last October 8. His agenda includes one-time Fuel Subsidy Program for Valenzuela registered TODAs and Bullet Subsidy to Valenzuela City Police worth Php 300,000 to support the training of the Police officers.
