MCIAA runway partially operational amid earlier Korean Airlines plane excursion

Lapu-Lapu City – Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) has been allowed to partially open to flights from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. earlier today (October 24) wherein it was able to accommodate a Jeju Air flight (JJA2406) bound for Incheon.

A notice to airmen (NOTAM) (B3339/22) has also been released by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) effective October 24 until the evening of Octobe 25, at 6 p.m., declaring the partial operability of the airport under day Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC) or conditions wherein pilots have sufficient visibility, as well as the airport runway’s allowed temporary distances.

CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said in coordination with Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA), which administratively operates the said airport, CAAP is also continuously working closely to complete the extraction of the Korean Airlines A330 aircraft from the end of MCIA’s runway 22.
