Media scholarships on labour standards: Reminder on 26 April application deadline

International Labour Organization - ILO Logo

The International Labour Organization (ILO) in collaboration with its International Training Centre in Turin (ITCILO) will hold its first Academy on International Labour Standards for Asia and the Pacific online from 2 May to 27 May 2022. A number of fellowships are available for media.

Since 1919, the International Labour Organization has maintained and developed a system of international labour standards (ILS) aimed at promoting opportunities for women and men to obtain decent and productive work, in conditions of freedom, equity, security and dignity.

The Academy will provide in-depth understanding of the comprehensive system of ILS and its application at national level. It will also help build the capacity of the media to use ILS and the work of the ILO supervisory bodies to increasingly report and to raise public awareness of internationally recognized labour rights.

The Academy will:

  • last 4 weeks (8 hours a week)
  • be conducted in English
  • combine synchronous activities (live sessions in Zoom) with asynchronous activities (such as interactive self-guided modules, quizzes and moderated forum)
  • include four common sessions known as “Master Classes”, where participants with various professionals backgrounds will meet in order to explore standards-related themes presented for promoting COVID-19 recovery in the Region

A number of fellowships are still available, including for the track designed for journalists, correspondents, reporters, editors and publishers, working in all types of media (print, radio, television and the Internet).

If you or anyone at your organization is interested in this opportunity please fill in the online registration form (available at: https://oarf2.itcilo.org/CST/A3715020/en) by 26 April, indicating in FINANCIAL SUPPORT that you/they are applying for a fellowship and indicating the track you/they will attend in TRACK SELECTION (i.e. the track for media).

Please note on the website the deadline shows as 19 April but this is being extended to the 26 April.
