More than P5M shabu seized in Navotas

OVER P5 million worth of shabu was seized by authorities from four drug personalities, including a woman, during the conduct of buy-bust operation Monday evening in Navotas City.

Navotas police chief P/Col. Rolando Balasabas said the arrest of Ronnel Ereno, 22, of 135 M. Domingo St. Bgy. Tangos, North, Randel Dela Cruz, 24, of 106 M. Domingo St., Sheila Eyana, 31, of 153 Ablola St. and Christopher James Aguilar, 29, of 7A Katibunan St., Muzon, Malabon City was the result of a drug sting conducted by operatives of Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) led by P/Lt. Genere Sanchez following several days of surveillance operation.

Balasabas said a police poseur-buyer was able to deal P10,000 worth of shabu from Ereno who agreed to meet the undercover cop along Togo St., Bgy. Tangos North at around 8:20 p.m.

When Ereno, along with his three cohorts, handed a pack of shabu to an undercover cop in exchange for two genuine P1,000 peso bills and eight pieces of marked boodle money, Lt. Sanchez ordered his men to effect the arrest of the suspects.

Apart from the marked money and the drugs which are the subject of buy-bust operation, police recovered from the suspects 12 knot-tied plastic ice bags, a staple-locked plastic bag and four heat sealed plastic sachets, all containing suspected shabu weighing 855 grams with corresponding standard drug price amounting to P5,814,000.

In his report to Northern Police District (NPD) District Director P/Brig. Gen. Rolando Genaro Ylagan, Col. Balasabas said the arrested suspects, except for Aguilar who was a known drug user, were included in the police and barangay drug watchlist.

The arrested suspects, who were charged for violation of selling and possession of illegal drugs under R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act, were presented yesterday for inquest proceedings before the Navotas City Prosecutor’s Office.
