MPD chief Dizon says 600k trooped to Binondo for Chinese New Year revelry

Manila Police District (MPD) Director PBGen. Andre Dizon said that an estimated crowd of at least 600,000 went to the Chinatown area in Binondo to join in the Chinese New Year celebration.

Overall, Dizon reported that the entire festival was generally peaceful and orderly.

Citing statistics forwarded to him, the MPD chief said that at least 600,000 people trooped to Binondo, Manila beginning on the eve of the Chinese New Year on January 21 all the way to January 22, 2023, the New Year’s Day itself.

Dizon also said that around 120,000 people were in Chinatown area to witness the musical fireworks display at the Filipino-Chinese Bridge in Intramuros while 5,000 were at the viewing deck on Jones Bridge where Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo-Nieto were also in attendace.

As of this writing, visitors continue arriving in Chinatown to join the celebration and festive activities there.
