OPERATIVES from the Manila Police District (MPD) arrested a holdupper said to be targetting students in the Binondo area.
The suspect, identified as Edward Domingo ,26, of No.169 Lavezares Street, Binondo, Manila, sustained a gun injury in one of this thighs when he fired at the cops pursuing him, prompting them to fire back.
Domingo was cornered and arrested at the corner of Muelle Dela Industria and Juan Luna Streets in Binondo, Manila.
Police said his accomplice identified only as Rommel, was able to escape, bringing with him the items they took from victim John Mark Santos, 20, a student, of Barangay 103 in Tondo, Manila.
The victim was held up at around 12 a.m., while aboard his motorcycle in the said area. The suspects took his cellphone worth P25,000 and sling bag containing his IDs and cash before fleeing also a board a motorcycle.
When the suspects left, the victim sought help from PSSg Raymond Ocampo and his team who were then patrolling the area and after a hot pursuit, the suspects were spotted in the area.
While being pursued however, Domingo reportedly drew a gun and fired at their direction, so that the cops fired back and hit Domingo in the thigh.
Police said a case of robbery was filed against the suspects before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
