MPD on full alert following blasts

THE Manila Police District (MPD) was placed on full alert status by Director Gen. Rolly Miranda in view of the recent developments in Sulu.

Alongside raising the allert status of the MPD to full allert, Miranda also instructed all the station commanders in the city to conduct random checkpoints in strategic areas. \Miranda also directed an intensified intelligence monitoring and ‘target hardening.’

In criminology, ‘target hardening’ generally refers to actions undertaken in an effort to make it either impossible to attack an identified target or to make it undesirable for potential attacks by increasing the risks of getting caught, along with the amount of effort it would take to carry out a successful strike.
Miranda added the unified curfew in the metro, which is from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., is strictly being implemented in the entire city.

A reported suicide bombing in Jolo, Sulu resulted in the death of 15 people and wounded 75 others.
