CAMP BGEN Vicente Lim, Calamba City, Laguna – A leader of a group involved in illegal drug activities and other crimes died on the spot during an encounter with police forces which sparked during the serving of an arrest warrant in Lipa City, Batangas, a report said the other day.
A report to PRO4A Regional Director Brig Gen Felipe Natividad by Lipa City Police Station commander LTCOL Lory Tarrazona identified the arrested suspect as Anthony Cubos alias Big Boss, a police officer on absence without leave.
The gunfight occurred after operatives from the Lipa City Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) group, Batangas Police Provincial Office, Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit-Provincial Intelligence Unit (PDEU/ PIU), Provincial Intelligence Team/Regional Intelligence Division (PIT-RID) -4A Valenzuela City Police and NISG Southern Luzon served a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Snooky Maria Ana Bareno-Sagayo of the Regional Court Branch 283, in Valenzuela City, against the suspect for robbery with homicide.
Cubos, believed a pusher and protector of illegal drug suspects, was included in the drug watchlists of President Rodrigo Duterte and the Philippine National Police.
Police said the slain suspect was the leader of the Cubos Criminal Group which is involved in robbery extortion, gun-for-hire and illegal drug activities, and kidnapping.
