Navotas COVID cases continue to decrease

THE rate of people who tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Navotas City continued to go down from 23% to 10% since the start of the intensified lock down community testing.

Mayor Toby Tiangco said this only showed that with the help of everyone, the positivity rate or the number of people who underwent swab test and turned positive for the virus is now much lower.

The mayor added that they will try their best to continue the extensive free swab testing for workers and residents of Navotas and will find those who have close contacts with people positive for COVID-19 to give them appropriate action.

They will also strictly enforce the “no home quarantine policy” and make sure those who found positive for COVID-19 would be accommodated in an isolation facility where they would be treated well until they recover.

Tiangco reiterated his appeal to the residents for their cooperation and unity and urged them to follow the guidelines and safety measures set by the government including proper wearing of face mask, social and physical distancing, frequent hand washing. He asked senior citizens, minors and those belong to they vulnerable sector to stay at home.

“Mababa na po ang positivity rate pero posible pa rin na sa isang iglap, tataas itong muli. Sa ibang bansa tumataas na naman ang kanilang mga kaso. Ayaw man nating maglockdown pero pag tumaas ulit ang bilang ng nahahawaan, wala tayong choice,” Tiangco said.

The city chief executive believes that with everyone’s help, the spread of the virus will be prevented. He advised everybody to take utmost care and avoid being complacent.
