NBI-Death Division to probe Dacera’s death

THE Death Investigation Division of the National Bureau of Investigation will investigate the death of flight attendant Christine Dacera, Officer-In-Charge Eric Distor said over the weekend.

Last Friday, the NBI officially joined the Philippine National Police in investigating the mysterious death of Dacera.

In Department Order 006, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra tasked Distor to conduct the investigation, and if evidence warrants, file the necessary charges against anyone involved.

Distor was given 10 days to submit a progress report, and periodically thereafter.

Dacera was found unconscious in the bathtub of her hotel room in Makati City on New Year’s Day following a party with friends the night before.

Hotel personnel tried to revive her before she was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead.

Three suspects were arrested and were provisionally charged with the crime of rape with homicide before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.

But the prosecutor’s office ordered the release of the suspects pending results of a formal preliminary investigation.
