NBI nabs Vietnamese national for illegal drugs

The National Bureau of Investigation – Dangerous Drugs Division (NBI-DDD) arrested a Vietnamese national for selling illegal party drugs known as ‘ecstasy’ or ketamine, during an operation conducted on July 19,2024 in his condominium in Paranaque City.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago presented the suspect, identified as Van Thai Nguyen, with aliases Van Vinh Nguyen and Van Quan Nguyen, who was nabbed pursuant to a search warrant issued by Paranaque RTC Branch 260, which resulted in the confiscation of the millions worth of ecstasy and ketamine.

The suspect was nabbed earlier at the Entertainment City for selling said drugs to a poseur-buyer.

Santiago said the NBI seized documents pertinent to his rented condominium stating that he is a ‘ worker’ in the country with a 9G working visa valid until 2026 based on his Alien Certificate of Registration. Also found on him were a weighing scale, cash and plastic sachets.

Santiago said Nguyensells each ecstasy for P2,000 while ketamine is being sold by him for P12,000 per gram.

The suspect was charged with violation of Section 5 ng RA No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Paranaque City Prosecutor’s Office, along with violation of Section 11 of RA No. 9165, Falsification of Documents and RA No. 6085 (Illegal Use of Aliases).
