THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested served warrants of arrest against Sarah Discaya and St. Timothy Construction Corp. president Roma Rimando, who are both facing malversation and graft charges in connection with a P96.5 million ghost flood control project in Davao Occidental.
The Regional Trial Court, Seventh Judicial Region, Branch 27, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, has issued warrants of arrest against Sarah Discaya in connection with multiple criminal cases namely, Violation of Section 3(e) of Republic Act No. 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act), as amended and Malversation of Public Funds or Property under Article 217 of the Revised Penal Code, committed through Falsification of Public Documents In relation to Articles 171 and 172 of the Revised Penal Code.
Pursuant to the court’s directives, the NBI served the said warrants in accordance with established procedures.
Upon arrest, Ms. Discaya underwent standard booking and documentation and will be temporarily committed to the NBI Detention Facility.
From NAIA, she was subsequently escorted to Cebu for her to be formally presented before the issuing court, Regional Trial Court Branch 27, Lapu-Lapu City, in compliance with lawful court processes.
The NBI underscored that all actions taken are in strict observance of due process and the rule of law, assuring that further updates will be released through official channels as warranted.
Malversation of public funds is a non-bailable offense.
