Nationwide volunteering program extended until August 31.
Volunteers across the Philippines have collectively shared their acts of kindness with over 9.5 million hours registered with Time Please in two months. The nationwide volunteer program is a collaboration of Globe Telecom and The Walt Disney Company Philippines.
Various organizations – big and small – and Globe customers have rendered volunteer hours using the iVolunteer and Gawad Kalinga volunteer platforms. Two months into the program, the initiative has gained strong following from the volunteer community, schools, NGOs, and other organizations. So far, over 250,000 volunteers registered through Time Please, reaching communities as far as Cotabato City.
In light of the unprecedented show of support, Globe and Disney decided to extend Time Please until August 31, 2018.
“The success of Time Please is a testament to Filipinos’ sense of malasakit and bayanihan. We are grateful to all volunteers who shared their time and talent to help others in need. We hope our collective effort will truly make a difference to the lives of all beneficiaries," said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability Officer and Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications at Globe.
“It is humbling to see that millions of kids and families have come out to make a difference in their communities through Time Please. Each hour clocked will make a long term impact on the future wellbeing of all of us. We hope that as many volunteers stay inspired and continue to spread happiness through volunteerism,” said Veronica Cabalinan, Country Manager of The Walt Disney Company, Philippines.
Both public and private sectors have joined forces to do volunteering activities in support of Time Please. Through DSWD, citizen soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Reserve Command (AFPRESCOM), some of the cast of much-awaited movie Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral, award-winning actor John Arcilla, and Globe employees recently packed 3,900 boxes of goods for communities struck by recent calamities. Each box of food items is good for a family of five.
In July, actress Yayo Martinez as well as online influencers Fifth Solomon and Marlann Flores joined Globe employees in helping Rise Against Hunger pack meals for kids who are nutritional-ly at risk. A total of 224 food packs were produced to support roughly 450 families. Similarly, cast members from Disney Philippines teamed up with Rise Against Hunger to pack 21,600 meals for close to 500 kids of Taguig Daycare Center.
Beauty blogger Marj Sia joined forces with Make A Wish Foundation to volunteer for the bene-fit of 10 cancer-stricken children. Sia and Make A Wish, with the help of Globe employees, held a fun-filled afternoon with games and beauty workshop with the kids.
Other celebrities and online influencers who have supported Time Please include Bianca Gonza-les, Michael V, Chuckie Dreyfus, Janella Salvador, Team Kramer, Janina Vela, Tracy Abad, DJ Cha Cha and daughter Saab, Rodel Flordeliz, Quark Henares, DJ Jhai Ho, Joj Agpangan, and Jai Agpangan.
The Department of Education (DepEd) and Boy Scout of the Philippines are among the key or-ganizations that have partnered with Globe for the nationwide volunteering program.
